Our commitment
Phone Repair Wollongong wants everyone to be able to book a repair, check on a device and get in touch with us, whatever their disability and whatever technology they use. We are a small local shop, and if something on this site gets in your way we would rather hear about it and fix it than have you go without.
How accessible this website is
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 at Level AA, the standard referenced in Australia for the Disability Discrimination Act 1992.
This site partially conforms to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially means some content does not yet fully meet the standard. We are telling you which parts rather than claiming we are finished.
What does work across the site:
- Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, and a “Skip to main content” link is the first thing you reach.
- Pages have one main heading and headings run in order, so screen reader users can navigate by structure.
- Images carry text alternatives, and images that are purely decorative are hidden from screen readers.
- The site works at 200% zoom and reflows to narrow screens without side-scrolling.
- Light and dark modes are both supported and follow your device setting.
- The language is set to Australian English so screen readers pronounce content correctly.
What we know still needs work
These are real issues we have found and not yet finished fixing. We have listed them so you know what to expect rather than discovering it yourself:
- Colour contrast. Some secondary text — smaller grey captions and helper text — may not meet the 4.5:1 contrast ratio in every place. If text is hard to read, browser zoom and your device’s high-contrast mode both work on this site.
- Third-party content. The map on our contact page and the Google review widget are supplied by Google, and we cannot change how they behave. Our address, phone number and opening hours are always available as plain text on the same page, so you never need the map to reach us.
- The online shop. The product filters and colour swatches have had less accessibility testing than the rest of the site. If you have trouble ordering an accessory, call us and we will take the order over the phone.
- PDF receipts. Receipts you print or save from a link we text you are generated by your browser and may not be tagged for screen readers. Ask us and we will email you the details as plain text.
If something is in your way
You do not have to use this website to deal with us. You are always welcome to phone, email, or come into the shop, and we will do the same thing for you that the website would.
- Phone: 0466 446 461
- Email: phonerepairaus@gmail.com
- In person: Unit 6/61 Market St, Wollongong NSW 2500
If you tell us about an accessibility problem, we will reply within five business days and tell you either that it is fixed or when we expect to fix it. It helps if you can say which page you were on and what you were trying to do, but you do not need to know any technical detail.
If you are not happy with our response
You can make a complaint to the Australian Human Rights Commission, who handle disability discrimination complaints under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992: humanrights.gov.au/complaints or 1300 656 419. We would much rather sort it out with you directly first.
