What we repair on a MacBook
- Battery replacement
- A MacBook that will not leave the desk, or one whose trackpad has started clicking oddly because a swollen cell is pushing up underneath it. That second one is a reason to stop using it and bring it in.
- Screen replacement
- Usually replaced as a whole lid assembly, which is why it costs what it does. Cracked glass, backlight that has gone, or the horizontal line along the bottom that some models develop from the display cable.
- Keyboard replacement
- Keys that repeat, stick, or have stopped registering. On the butterfly-keyboard years this is a known failure rather than something you did, and it is worth asking about before you replace the machine.
- Liquid damage and board work
- A spill, or a MacBook that shows nothing at all. This is diagnosed on the bench and quoted afterwards, because what it needs depends on what the liquid reached. Data recovery is part of the same conversation.
- Not on the list
- Six MacBook models are priced in the estimator. Anything else is still taken in and quoted after inspection — MacBook parts are ordered per job either way, so the wait is the same.

Parts and what the price depends on
A MacBook screen is usually replaced as a whole lid assembly, which is why it costs what it does. Batteries on newer models are glued into the case and come out with solvent and patience. If the fault is liquid damage or a board fault rather than a part, that is diagnosed first and quoted separately, because the two have very different answers.

- How long does a MacBook repair take?
- Usually one to three hours. If your model needs a part we do not have on the shelf we will tell you at the counter, before you leave it with us.
- My MacBook will not charge.
- Could be the charger, the port, the battery or the board — in roughly that order of hopefulness. It is worth bringing in rather than guessing; we have a guide on it under Blog.
- Do you do logic board repairs?
- Yes, micro-soldering included. Board work is assessed first and quoted after, because what it needs depends on what failed.
