What we repair on an iPhone
- Charging port
- A port that only charges at an angle, or needs the cable held just so, is usually compacted lint or a worn connector rather than a failing phone. It is worth having looked at before you assume the battery is the problem.
- Screen replacement
- Cracked glass, black patches, lines, or a display that lights up but shows nothing. Touch can fail while the picture still looks perfect, and that is still a screen fault.
- Battery replacement
- Shutdowns while there is still charge showing, a phone that will not last the morning, or a screen being lifted from underneath by a swollen cell. That last one should be brought in rather than left.
- Back glass
- A separate repair from the screen. On the iPhone 8 and later the rear panel is bonded to the frame, so it is removed rather than peeled off — which is why it is its own job and not an afterthought to the front.
- Rear camera, front camera and camera glass
- Three faults that look alike from the outside: a shattered lens cover over a working camera, a camera that will not focus, and a front camera that will not open. The lens glass on its own is the cheapest of the three to put right.
- Earpiece, speaker and microphone
- Callers cannot hear you, you cannot hear them, or the speaker crackles at volume. Often it is a blocked mesh rather than a dead part, and that is the first thing we check.
- Taptic engine
- No vibration at all, or a buzz that sounds loose. It is its own module, so it is replaced without disturbing anything else.
- Frame replacement
- For a phone bent or dropped hard enough that a new screen will not sit flush. Fitting a screen to a distorted frame is how a repair fails a fortnight later, so the frame goes first.
- Logic board and NFC
- No power, no service, or Apple Pay that has stopped being recognised. This is bench work rather than a part swap — the logic board page explains how it is assessed.

Parts and what the price depends on
Screens come in more than one grade. The cheaper option is an aftermarket panel; the dearer one is an OEM refurbished screen with the original Apple glass. Both are fitted the same way and both carry a warranty — the difference is colour accuracy, brightness and how the panel behaves under pressure. We will show you both prices and let you choose rather than deciding for you.
Questions we get asked
- How long does an iPhone screen take?
- Most are done within the hour, while you wait. We will tell you before you leave it whether yours is one of them.
- Will I lose my data?
- No. A screen or battery replacement does not touch your storage. We still suggest a backup before any repair, because that is true of any repair anywhere.
- Does replacing the screen affect Face ID?
- Face ID is in a separate module and is carried over. If Face ID has already stopped working before the repair, tell us — that is a different fault.
- Do you fix water damage?
- Yes, as a recovery job rather than a same-day repair. It is quoted after we open it up, because what is needed depends on what the water reached.
