What we repair on an iPad

Screen replacement

The most common iPad repair by a distance. On most models the glass and the display are separate layers, so a cracked front does not always mean replacing the panel underneath — that is worth checking before you assume the worst.

Battery replacement

An iPad that will not hold a day of light use, or takes most of the day to charge. The battery is adhered across the back of the case, which is why this is a drop-off rather than a wait.

Charging port

Charging that only works at an angle, or has stopped entirely while the cable and charger both test fine on something else. Unlike the screen and battery, this one is priced for every iPad rather than a named list — the estimator will quote it whichever model you have. On an iPad the port is soldered to the board, so it is bench work rather than a swap.

No power, and water damage

An iPad that will not turn on, or one that went in the bath, is not a part swap and is not priced per model. It is diagnosed on the bench and quoted after — the board repair page explains how that is assessed. Water damage recovery carries no warranty, because corrosion keeps spreading after a clean.

Not on the list

Screens and batteries are priced for five models: iPad Air, iPad 10th generation, the 9th generation LCD, and both iPad Pro sizes. If yours is not one of them it is still repaired — bring it in or ring, and it is quoted after we have looked at it rather than guessed.

Questions we get asked

How long does an iPad screen take?

Typically two to three hours, sometimes longer. The adhesive needs time to set and rushing it is how a screen lifts a fortnight later.

Is it worth repairing an older iPad?

Sometimes not, and we will say so. We would rather tell you a repair costs more than the tablet is worth than take the job.

Do you repair iPad charging ports?

Yes. On an iPad the port is soldered to the board, so it is a bench job rather than a swap. It is also the one iPad repair priced for every model rather than a named list.

Do you repair iPad Pro?

Yes — both the 11 inch and the 12.9 inch are priced for screens and batteries, alongside the iPad Air, the 10th generation and the 9th generation LCD. Other models are repaired too, just quoted after we have looked rather than from the list.

My iPad will not turn on at all. Can you help?

Usually. A tablet that shows nothing is either the battery, the charging circuit or the board itself, and which of those it is cannot be told from the outside. It goes on the bench, gets diagnosed, and is quoted after — never before.

Can you get the photos off an iPad that is broken?

Often, if the storage itself is intact. Back up before you bring anything in if the device still turns on at all. If it does not, say so when you drop it off, because recovering the data and repairing the tablet are different jobs and we would rather know which one matters to you.
